Jim Williams (George Lane Matinee Sessions)

*** PREMIUM SEATING SOLD OUT ***

*** GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS (MOSTLY SEATED) REMAIN ***

Traveling to Australia in the sixties Jim didn't look out of place with the Gibson hummingbird as a constant companion, this was a gift from the Gypsy who had occupied his bedroom for the last three years in order to help his folks pay the rent in that small town back in Wales, the guitar was compensation he was told for having to share a room with his two sisters, learn to play it and you will be famous one day the Gypsy told him.

As an artist Jim Williams stands alone, just a guitar and killer songs. His ‘Take no prisoners’ attitude to his songwriting is groundbreaking and his folk influenced style is turning the expectations of Australian music on it’s head, his remarkably assured new album CLICK BAIT with ARIA and Golden Guitar winning producer Shane Nicholson both honours tradition and declares Jim’s credentials as a distinctly original artist. Jim will be playing this show alongside Roger McLachlan (ex-Little River Band) on bass, Greg Hunt on fiddle and mandolin.

Once described as ‘an urban Johnny Cash’ for many reasons including, dynamic live performances, his working class attitude his infectious rhythmic playing, personal honesty and genuine open-heartedness that never sails close to vapid sentimentality or hollow romance always devoid of pretension or cliché and is best appreciated in a live setting.

A swag of awards including ASA 2018 Independent album of the year, two APRA awards for 2008 Country songs of the year and Modern Country song of the year, and a 2018 Golden Guitar nomination.

Described as a National Treasure by the ASA, Jim has recently moved from rural Victoria to take up residency in St Kilda and their loss is our gain.
