Rosie Westbrook & John Phillips (George Lane Matinee Sessions)

Rosie Westbrook & John Phillips will be bringing their immersive emotional soundscapes to George Lane on Saturday, November 25.

Westbrook and Phillips are sonic architects of a collaboration that will see the release of an EP early in 2024; a musical narrative that takes the listener through an evocative and dreamy landscape.

Rosie Westbrook has been delighting audiences for years with her double bass wizardry; she is also a brilliant solo guitarist and composer of soundtracks for film and television and is renowned for creating music that is haunting, spacious and inherently cinematic.

Rosie’s third solo album “Always the Sea” is a collection of ethereal and evocative instrumental soundscapes, featuring the beautiful bowed bass and ringing guitars.

John Phillips is renowned for his incandescent guitar sounds in the legendary Australian band Not Drowning, Waving, as well as his work for numerous screen productions.

Westbrook and Phillips have recently completed a collaboration with Jim Moginie of Midnight Oil for a live performance of Moginie's "The Colour Wheel" guitar orchestra at the Capitol Theatre Melbourne.

This special performance at George Lane will feature music from the duo’s forthcoming EP and music from Rosie’s album “Always the Sea”.

Brilliant Melbourne electric guitarist, Cam Butler, will be a special guest on the day, playing a solo set of melodic and soulful 6 string mini-symphonies.
