In 2014 Dave Wright & The Midnight Electric released their debut LP The Lucky Country. Eleven songs that resonated with social messages and explored themes unique to the Australian landscape, from farmers and suicide to St Kilda’s prostitutes and the effects of war. The album received good airplay locally and as far away as London and New Jersey the plaudits rained in. It was hailed as “a Brilliant, brilliant album” by Mark Pendry of Ridge Radio UK and “like listening to Springsteen, the Gaslight Anthem, Dropkick Murphys, and Nick Cave all at the same time” by William Sperry of HGRNJ New Jersey. Jeff Jenkins said of the band’s live show “expect epic” and now Dave brings that live show to George Lane to celebrate ten years of The Lucky Country.

In the years that followed Dave released four other albums, HWY and Lost Inside A Dream with The Midnight Electric and Turn Out The Lights and Darkness Calling with his Australiana folk outfit The Midnight Ramblers, alongside numerous live albums, a concert film, and a career spanning Best Of. In all of that time songs from The Lucky Country have featured prominently in the live shows of both bands, highlighting the longevity and heft of the album. This will be the first time since 2015 that the entire album will be played in full and in sequence as Dave Wright & The Midnight Electric revisit The Lucky Country in one special, not to be missed show.
Special guest support on the night is Charles Jenkins. He has released 21 albums, toured Europe and the USA several times and been nominated for two ARIA awards with the Icecream Hands. In 2014 he won the AGE/Music Victoria award for best folk/roots album and in August 2020 Icecream Hands released their first album in 13 years – No Weapon But Love. In Dec 2022 he released his latest solo album Radio Sketches 2 – the Death Of Stars A published songwriter of more than 30 years, his songs have featured in local and international television and film and have been recorded by other artists, including Rebecca Barnard and Kerri Simpson. He has performed on the SBS music show RocKwiz and has co-written songs with Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything), Angie Hart (Frente) and Suzannah Espie.
