Gyspy Lovers (EP Launch) + Penny Ikinger's Marbles

Gypsy Lovers Unveil Electrifying New E.P. “Modern World” with Special Double Header Performance!

Get ready for an unforgettable night of music that will leave you buzzing! Melbourne’s own Gypsy Lovers are back, bringing their unique blend of funky pop rock that’s been setting the local scene on fire. Formed in 2022 by a serendipitous meeting of like-minded musicians from various local bands, this group has been carving their own path through the Melbourne circuit and beyond.

After two years of electrifying performances, Gypsy Lovers took their sound to the next level with a powerhouse recording session at St. Kilda’s iconic Hothouse Studio in late 2024. The resulting tracks—captivating, bold, and full of undeniable energy—feature some of Melbourne’s best guest musicians, elevating their groove and vibe to thrilling new heights.

Take a listen to some Gypsy Lovers below:

GYPSY LOVERS. My World.

The culmination of this musical journey is the brand-new E.P. "Modern World"—a fearless reflection on the complexities of modern society. Through the eyes of lead singer and guitarist Adam Kovarik, the songs tackle provocative themes like censorship, political correctness, and the challenges of living in today’s fast-paced, hyper-connected world. And don’t be fooled by the infectious pop melodies—these tracks are loaded with depth, wit, and a healthy dose of rebellion.

To celebrate the release, Gypsy Lovers will bring their full force to the stage with an eleven-piece band, creating an unforgettable live experience that will have the crowd buzzing long after the final note. The night promises to be a wild ride through their newest tracks and fan favourites, all wrapped in their signature high-energy performance.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there—joining Gypsy Lovers for a double header night of original Melbourne music is the one and only Penny Ikinger and her stunning band Marbles. Penny, an antipodean rock legend and master guitarist, has been captivating audiences across the globe with her raw, fuzz-laden sound and dark, brooding ballads. With her iconic guitar, The Pennycaster, Penny blends folk, rock, and a haunting energy that’s earned her a devoted international following. She takes the stage at George Lane, still buzzing from her recent whirlwind tour across Europe, and performances back home at St Kilda Festival and St Kilda Blues Festival.

David Fricke, Senior Editor at Rolling Stone (USA), sums it up perfectly: “All woman and all business—the Australian singer-guitarist unveils a line of balladry here: black-hearted folk song draped in fuzz, topped with a dark baby-doll whisper... imagine Nico channelling Sandy Denny in front of Blue Oyster Cult, and you're close."

It’s a night you won’t want to miss—Gypsy Lovers and Penny Ikinger’s Marbles delivering a double dose of unforgettable original rock at George Lane, St. Kilda.
