The Street Mural QUEEN is a new artwork inspired by the music of G-Flip. QUEEN will feature a visualisation of a soundwave.
Queen was created by Local Artist Betty Sargeant
BETTY SARGEANT: ARTIST - Betty Sargeant
The soundwave will appear as a single jagged line. This will represent the shape of the audio signal from G-Flip’s vocals from their hit song Queen. The single jagged line will run the length of George Lane, taking advantage of the site’s elongated footprint. The background of the artwork will feature a geometric coloured pattern that reflects the dynamic range of the song’s instrumentation.
The street mural is a visual response to contemporary music; contemporary music that has its roots in St Kilda. G-Flip was born in St Kilda, they are an international music artist, they are nonbinary and an ambassador of the Victorian Pride Centre. The sharply delineated graphical style of this artwork will be bright and minimalist. It represents an innovative approach to showcasing contemporary local music, queer pride and community positivity.
See you there :)
