C ME is a musician based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Holding a diverse skillset in the creative world, with a focus on songwriting and lyricism.
C ME is an independent artist and has released six tracks in a 12-month time-period. Her first single, stay this time, released in 2021, was a co-produced, pop-alt song.
She is an avid lover and performer of blues, alternative rock, pop and jazz, having sung around St Kilda and Fitzroy from the age of 16. These genres have been fuel for her original tracks, additionally sourcing from other sounds like soul and hip-hop, to create layers in the C ME soundscape.
Some of the artists that have influenced C ME are
Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Lana Del Rey, Etta James, Esperanza Spalding, Mistki and many others.
A large number of C ME'S tracks have started out as poetry and ended in song, taking solace in writing and reading.
With each body of work, C ME evolves her sound to fit the feel of the track, following intuition through each project. Her latest Ep, 3182, releasing on April 12th, is a mix of pop, rock, grunge and alternative sounds.
3182’s concept was formed whilst living in the suburb of St Kilda. Written over the course of three years, each song holds intimate details of C ME’s personal evolution.
The EP’s ‘intro’ is sweet and short, with stripped instrumentation, the piano and organ-based track follows the temperament of the vocals. The lyrics are a gesture of a woman in pain, trying to understand and place good faith in the people that have hurt her. The intro acts as a foreword for her entire extended play.
The entire EP began with piano and lyrics, at times, songs would start as poetry and then end as a complete track. In order to make sense of the world, C ME analyses the people and places around her, thus, creating music from her hindsight. C ME was precise in placing the correct instruments in each track, to emphasize the emotionality of the lyrics and vocals.
3182's generic themes are alt/rock/pop, with all instruments, aside from keys and synths, live-tracked in the studio. Each track covers a time point or place in C ME’S life, she wants listeners to connect with her music and understand the universal experience we all have, as people on this planet...
